A “Do More of the Things you Love” tool

Do more of what you love. That's what they say isn't it?

As a freelancer, I really want to become more mindful about the kind of work I do. The projects I work on are varied and I rarely do the same thing twice.

The challenge is that I just take the next job that comes in (and looks interesting), with no real consideration about whether it's the 'kind' of work I actually want to be doing.

So, I want to introduce some kind of review process , once a project has finished, so I can be more strategic and make better decisions.

What would I ask myself, after a project?

These questions are how I value or assess a project … what do you think?

How much did I enjoy this?

Would I do the same project again in the exact same way?

Did you enjoy working with this client?

Did the client pay well?

Did you enjoy working with this type of client?

Did you enjoy working in this sector / industry?

Did you enjoy the process?

did it allow for work life balance?

How perfect was the process?

Did you enjoy starting the project?

Did you enjoy the middle stages?

Did you enjoy the final stages?

did you enjoy the outcome / deliverable type?

Did you like this specific outcome?

Would you like to share this in your portfolio?

Did it stretch your skills?

How difficult was the project?

A tool to review each project

MY go-to tool is Excel, so I added the questions in, where I rank 1-10 depending on the positive or negative response. I also gave a prompt to add some notes if the number was less than 5.

The tool also summarises the responses into categories, AND gives a list of particular issues (lower than 5) which may be lost in the averages for each section.

Next steps …

Recreate this tool in Tableau Public so it can sit online.
The data would not be saved but people could possible export their responses?
